It’s been a busy year in the Preserve. From clearing brush to creating trails to hikes to spotting herons and saving fish, members of the Holliday Nature Preserve Association and friends have enjoyed the Preserve’s beauty while trying to serve as good stewards to the land. Events kicked off with a Earth Day /Arbor Day project on May 1 that cleared trails at Foxlands. Then in early May, the group met on a beautiful spring day for a walk in Hix Park. Phil Crookshank, Robert Donovic and Joseph Naif and some of our regulars walked to the old Red Pine forestry project. If you’ve never been to that section, it’s very peaceful and fragrant. (A walk is planned for Nov. 20. Join us! June 5 saw volunteers turn out for River Day 2004/Rouge Rescue to clean up a section of the preserve and cut and pull some invasive species of plants. There was even a fish rescue. Find our more more in our Fall 2004 Preserve Update.
